Rainey’s DR Adventure: Expanding Horizons

Aside from the fear of flying, culture shock probably has to be one of the most common feelings to strike the average international traveler. Some of us, however, the braver ones, embrace the surprise, exchanging most of that currency of shock for opportunity–the opportunity to see and experience new things. I like to wishfully think that I’m cut from a segment of the latter cloth. But even if I’m not ultimately, at least I’ve got some new pics from DR to pretend with. Enjoy!

Rooftop shot from Los Jardines Del Ozama, STO.

Caught this little guy doing his thing on another roof.

Wondered what he was up to.

Turns out he was flying his kite right before an oncoming storm!

Reminded me a lot of the kite runners in The Middle East.

DR loves Diahatsu trucks. Small, strong, economical. Enough said!

Local barbershop. $2 for a shape up. Not even Uptown prices compare!

Made it down to El Conde and La Zona Colonial

Looked so much like  a tiny version of Cuba!

Why do simple sandwiches in other countries look so damn good?

Took a ride on Santo Domingo’s subway, El Metro.

Super clean!

These were all over. I kinda dug the design, not the politics though.

Catch you on the next update,

One of my goals is to own a apartment en la zona colonial. The architecture and the art makes me feel like that’s where I belong!
