One of my favorite authors, Robin Sharma, put it best, “people do business with people they like”. That right there, succinctly sums up the secret to Hector Bodre’s success. Bodre Cut and Color Room (4174 Broadway) has managed to survive 2 recessions as well as thriving in a crowded field with the ubiquity of salons Uptown, due to his winning formula of providing unmatched customer service and creating an ambiance of sophistication and elegance. As Hector Bodre says, “bringing downtown Uptown”. To his clientele, Hector Bodre is more that just their hairdresser, he is also their friend and confidante. Thanks to his personal attention to his clients and his staff, Bodre Cut and Color Room will be around for a long time as they have just renewed their lease for another 5 years. Long live Bodre Cut and Color Room! But don’t take our word for it, hear it from Mr. Bodre himself, after we interrogated him for some answers….

Thanks for highlighting one of uptown’s hidden gems! It is THE one and only spot that can deal with my short kinky hair without making me look like a doña. The staff is professional, very qualified and actually make appointments…WOW!

Walking around the neighborhood 6+ years ago a beautiful-high-ceiling-lounge-looking place caught my attention; which prompted me to open the doors to a serene, soothing to the ears and eyes uptown salon — with beautiful artwork, music and smiling faces.
Not only did I fall in love with my hairstylist and Bodre’s classy atmosphere, but the fact that there was none of the “usual” uptown salon behavior going on (cacophonous noises, yelling, loud TV playing and music as loud as a nightclub, nor your makeup and back being drenched while you get a hair wash, because the washing lady is too busy chit-chatting with her wash-mate, or looking at something else other than paying attention to your head).
Mr. Bodre……KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS. Keep up the good work; it only keeps getting better!
