MTV’s ‘Washington Heights’ – The Trailer

Washington Heights - MTV

You think you know, but you have no idea. This is the story of “Washington Heights.” MTV’s latest docu-series will follow the lives of nine friends trying to make it in New York City. With 11 hour-long episodes, the show will premiere on the network with two back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, January 9 at 10 p.m. ET.

The series will document the comrades as they navigate careers in fashion, music, baseball and poetry, but also try to balance their family, dating and friendships as well. ” ‘Washington Heights’ is an honest, intimate and entertaining look inside the lives, spirit and hustle of a unique group of individuals as they strive to pursue their passions,” Chris Linn, executive vice president of MTV’s programming and head of production, said in a statement about the series. “The show celebrates their friendship, neighborhood pride and mutual support as they make their mark — even when the challenges are great. We are optimistic that the stories of this incredibly appealing cast will connect with our audience in a deep and meaningful way.”

Well…It looks like it could be good. Maybe. Maybe. I don’t trust MTV to handle this neighborhood appropriately or with respect (had to throw a good ole fight scene in there, right?) but perhaps the actors can lend some balance to that. That said, won’t be watching to see.

Feeling skeptical about it .. hopefully this TV series doesn’t further destroy us as a community… I wound’t want to see a stupid Jersey Shores reality TV about my community, my race, my ethnicity my background…. kudos to those in it …. please, represent us well ….

I give the kids props but, it’s fake depiction of the heights. Honestly, I don’t know any cats ordering from Papa Johns when there is a REAL pizza spot around the corner. How about the KFC? For real, most would go to the corner restaurant, chinese spot or bbq’s. they haven’t even given Gorgies props.

Marissa, I also give props to the kids for their accomplishments. However, your comments is a bit ignorant. not everyone in the heights eats the KFC garbage or order pizza from just around the corner. There’s a papa Johns right on 179 and Broadway and half of Washington Heights order pizza there …
