Word Up Books To Remain Open Until The End of November

BY Led Black (@Led_Black)

It’s official folks, Word Up Books, Uptown’s sole community owned and operated bookstore, will now remain open until the end of November. While this is a victory indeed, we must remain involved by supporting and patronizing this wonderful community affirming space. Long live Word Up Books!

No Name @ WORD UP, a series programmed and hosted by Eric Vetter

September 27: “No Name OPENS UP” (Heights/Inwood folks get their Words Up)

Host Eric Vetter is co-founder of long-running, LES-based, comedy/variety show No Name . . . & a Bag O’ Chips. The show is a “workout show,” wherein talented performers are encouraged to play and try out new material. The audience is invited to hang out afterward to share feedback and shoot the breeze. Notable past guests include Christian Finnegan, Hannibal Buress, Tom Shillue, Jim Mendrinos, Marilyn Torres, Leighann Lord, Ophira Esienberg, and many, many more. In addition to the flagship “Bag O’ Chips” show, Vetter now oversees other No Name incarnations, including “No Name presents:The Uptown Caberet” (a singers’ workout show in Inwood), “No Name @ The Kilt” (a headliner comic showcase, also in Inwood), and “Jazz w/ A Touch of No Name” (a jazz-&-comedy show in Brooklyn). He is very proud to have No Name’s first full-fledged reading series here, uptown @ Word Up!
