A. Jay franco is the son of an artist and hard working mother who inspired a lot of my artistic ways of thinking. Jf is just a guy with a cam and a great passion for the arts and is trying to tell a story with every picture he takes.

Q. What does photography mean to you?

A. Photography means life to me. Life for different reasons because it turned my dream job/hobby into my career, life because I take pleasure in documenting others lives and telling a story in still motion.

Q. What was the idea behind NYC Over and Under?

A. The idea behind the exhibit came a year ago from pictures I’ve collected throughout the years in the city. After realizing all I have captured, I decided to turn it into an exhibit. I then teamed up with 3 good friends of mine who are also photographers from NYC and decided the best way to tell a story about the city is to put our work together and let it speak for itself.

Q. What can we expect from this exhibit?

A. You can expect to see the real New York City. Not the perfect tourist tour you can get in 42nd Street but the city as it really is viewed and documented by real New Yorkers. My goal is to show everyone the good and the ugly of the city and if you can leave the exhibit relating to a picture you see, I will be pleased. This exhibit is for every New Yorker who knows how rough it can be in the city but still wakes up and takes the train or bus to get from point A to point B, all for the love of their city.
