Notes to Self: The Lost Poems – She’s Gone

BY Frank Medina (@FRANKELITONYC)

Hip-Hop

CALIfornia Dreaming, while I’m in MIAmi napping

MUSIC in my ear

from the days of ARTISTS RAPPING..

Now KIDS,

who never left their room… Claim that they’ve been TRAPPING

And the STREETS ain’t been the same since

they LET IT HAPPEN…

Bumping that ALIYAH, 4 PAGE LETTER…

REFLECTING on my LIFE

WISHING it was BETTER

Seems TALENT ain’t APPRECIATED

Without the CHEDDAR

Rocking BIG’s VERSACE GLASSES and COOGIE SWEATERS

MADONNA said “THIS USED to BE MY PLAYGROUND”

I guess that’s CUZ

I’ve felt for some time…

They’ve been losing LOVE

I blame 50 for looking “IN DA CLUB”

Got me thinking like SKEELO “I WISH I WAS…”

MEMORABLE…

Like EM on “RENEGADE” or “DEAD WRONG”

I’ve been missing real SONGS for too LONG

It’s been replaced

by FAT ASSES in thin THONGS

and all I can do is ACCEPT

Like HALL & OATES “SHE’S GONE”
