The only remaining Catholic high school in Washington Heights announced that it’s too cash-strapped to keep its doors open and will close later this year.

In a brief message posted on its website, officials at Mother Cabrini High School, a 115-year-old institution on Fort Washington Ave., informed students that the spring semester will be its last.“Regrettably, the economic downturn of the past five years has presented many challenges,” reads a letter posted on the school’s website signed by President Bruce Segall and Board of Trustees Chairperson Paula Greco-McTigue. “As a result, our deficit has increased to unsustainable levels.”
