Junot Díaz Wins Prestigous MacArthur Genius Grant

I remember thinking when I first read Drown, damn Junot Díaz is a genius. Well, he is now officially a genius. Earlier this week, the MacArthur Foundation announced their 2012 MacArthur Fellows and the immensely talented Mr. Díaz was one of the recipients. The good news for Junot fans is that it seems that he will now dive head first into creating his post-apocalyptic DR novel. An excerpt of the book entitled Monstro appeared in the Sci-Fi edition of the New Yorker earlier this summer and caused quite a stir.
