Uptown Poetry: What You Could Have Won

What can I say?

Patience is the key to longevity

But what happened the last time

Someone got the best of me

Are you prepared to see the worst of me?

And it hurts to see a broken heart

But it hurts more not to give a chance

And doom it from the start

Every time we are apart

I question if it’s better

I question what I feel

I question if it’s real or

Is it just whatever

And deep down I know the answer

Can’t avoid it like a cancer

But my fear leads to some

And I wonder what may come

But if you never fight the war

You’ll never know what you could have won…
