Four years ago, Inwood pharmicist Manny Ramirez scraped together enough money to buy the upper Broadway drug store where he started as a stock boy.
In a flash Ramirez’ beloved Dichter Pharmacy was gone, one of nine mom and pop shops on the busy strip that went up in flames Tuesday night.
“I always wanted that store,” said Ramirez, who began at the shop when he was 13 and then supported himself through pharmacy school working for the previous owner and his mentor George Liebmann.
Ramirez, 43, who is married with a baby girl on the way, worked six days a week in his store, along with two employees.
“I need to be back in business,” said a shaken Ramirez.
It could take awhile: the building at 207th St. was so damaged city officials said it would have to be demolished.
