The New York City Housing Authority is working to find an apartment for a homeless Uptown dad who needs a kidney transplant.

Octavio Estevez, who lives in a Bronx homeless shelter, was kept off Mount Sinai Medical Center’s kidney transplant waiting list because he didn’t have permanent housing.

This week, NYCHA officials have been in talks with City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez (D-Washington Heights) and Speaker Christine Quinn’s office about Estevez’ situation — and are trying to track down a three-bedroom apartment for him, Rodriguez confirmed.

“New Yorkers have been offering their homes for Octavio to stay in, and we’re looking for NYCHA to join in the holiday spirit by finding an apartment for him and his family,” Rodriguez said.
