HEAT + UPTOWN = OPENED HYDRANT

According to this article in the New York Times, the most frequently opened fire hydrant in the city is in Uptown, the one at Thayer Street and Sherman Avenue to be exact. I am not sure if we are to be proud of that dubious distinction but when I was kid there was nothing like frolicking in an open fire hydrant on a scorching day. The article is part of a NY Times section entitled Summer Rituals, which is “a weekly series on what makes summer summer for people in and around New York.”
