POLITICIANS ARE PEOPLE TOO. This is something that we forget far too often. They are neither celebrities nor deities; they are public servants, plain and simple. Their job is to be the collective voice of the group they represent and act on their constituents best interest. Politicians are employees of the community they serve. It is for all these reasons that the Uptown Collective is hosting their first in a series of “Politicking with the People” forums.
Politicking with the People is an intimate affair where invited guests are given the opportunity to know, understand and interact with a candidate that is running for public office. A platform like this places citizens in a position, to make a wiser decision on which candidate they would give the power to speak and act on their behalf.
The first one we are hosting will be with former City Councilman and former NYC Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs (first Dominican elected official) Mr. Guillermo Linares. Mr. Linares is currently running for State Assemblyman for Washington Heights, Inwood and Marble Hill.
So here is your chance to listen to him while having him listen to you. POLITICIANS ARE PEOPLE TOO. Do not talk up to them. Do not have them talk down to you. JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!!!

Awesome!! I met the other day at the 207th train station.
I was just thinking how these people seem to only show up when its time to get elected. Great idea to have this forum guys!
So, are the contributions a requisite for attendance or is that just FYI?
It is $10 dollars to take part in the event.
