So is it that bad up here that we now have to go to BK to have a good time? Well, obviously someone thinks so by taping up some posters (cool looking ones at that) about some activities being hosted in the county of Kings. Do we not have a cool hang out scene Uptown? If we don’t, do we not have creative people that can take on the challenge of producing some ultra happening parties/events that will have even some of Brooklyn’s finest on our turf for good times.
This is our home base, we don’t need visitors taking our wall space as their billboards. These walls should be plastered with Uptown events. We need to STAND UP and give our ‘hood the scene that anyone and everyone wants to be a part of. If we got it then lets support it, if we don’t then lets build it! Don’t get me wrong, I love Brooklyn but I AM UPTOWN.
Who really cares if Inwood gets flyered for events elsewhere? We’re not going to get into that us vs. them thing like every other neighborhood (especially BK) are we? personally, I’m glad to see shows wherever and whenever. A LOT of musicians of all walks live here and you can’t pursue the art of music in 1 neighborhood alone and be a success.
Thanks for the comment. At first, I agreed with your assessment but I think the larger point that Mr. DeJesus was trying to make is that we need to support, nourish, and create our own scene.
