DRUMS ALONG THE HUDSON SNAPSHOTS

The 8th annual Drums Along the Hudson Native American festival held at Inwood Hill Park, was absolutely mind blowing. It is the only open-air pow wow in all of Manhattan and included exhibitions of world dance and drumming traditions. At the risk of sounding all new agey, it would seem to me that the Native American dancing is what kept the rain at bay. Sandra Bookman of ABC News officiated the proceedings, which included a tree planting ceremony as well as performances by the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers and Grammy Award Winner Tom Chapin among many others.
