Do you pay for a car, keep it at the dealership lot and just tell yourself, “Hey! I own a car”? NO, you pay for it, get in it, drive off the lot and put them wheels to use…so why should that be any different when it comes to municipal services, such as the NYC Police Dept.
Taxes come out your check, the department gets paid, do they do as they wish and you got nothing to say?! NOT. Your tax dollars give you the right speak your piece to your city “employees”. So for us Uptowners, the way to do so, attend THE 34TH COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING; this is where you will have the platform to voice your opinions and concerns over public safety and quality of life issues.
So don’t just sit around complaining on how tired you are of the noise outside your window, or how much you hate dodging dog poo on the sidewalk, or how vulnerable you feel knowing that there are less police patrolling the neighborhood than needed…
Don’t let another dictate how your ‘hood should be. So Get Up. Get Out and Get Involved…You Pay for the Right to.
