Don’t get me wrong, I love New York Magazine but I think they kind of dissed us with their ranking of our beloved Uptown. Inwood and Washington Heights came out 31st and 37th respectively out of NYC’s 50 most livable neighborhoods. We didn’t even merit a picture just a few lines of backhanded compliments such as “in Manhattan, but not of it; on balance, less convenient than many neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens” when referring to Inwood and this gem about Washington Heights “for better or worse, it has mostly escaped the forces of gentrification; it’s much safer than reputed, with a falling crime rate”. Gee thanks – New York Magazine. I will not mention any of the neighborhoods that outranked us by name but you would be surprised by some of the picks. Anyway, it doesn’t matter – Uptown will always be numero uno to us.
